Drama Core Values: Collaborate Commit Create
At Key Stage 3, students learn how to express themselves using a range of drama techniques and team work opportunities. Our Drama Core Values are highly integrated into each lesson and encompass the whole school’s focus on PLTS skills. Through skills-based workshops and targeted teaching, students learn how to modify their voice, body language, movement and gesture in order to express emotions, take on a range of roles or find new ways to approach texts or ideas. Students are also encouraged to work together constructively, taking part in self and peer evaluation activities as they develop their skills. Schemes of learning often link to English and PSHE in order to increase transferable skills across the curriculum. Current schemes include ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘Horror House’ and ‘Bullying’. In addition, students also have opportunities to attend professional theatre performances and workshops with local Drama companies.
