Corley Centre is a secondary special school for children with complex social and communication difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis.  Students bring a range of abilities and aspirations, special educational needs, vulnerabilities, challenges and behaviours.  Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/vocational range.

MIDDLE LEADERSHIP POSITION: ENGLISH CURRICULUM LEADER

Permanent, Full time post from September 2020

TMS/UPS plus TLR2a and 1 SEN Point

Governors are seeking a highly driven and creative specialist English teacher to lead a dedicated team of specialist and non-specialist English teachers, ensuring a challenging and robust curriculum with the highest standards of delivery. The post will involve delivering English across all key stages and the full ability range, including GCSE English Language and English Literature. The ability to teach Drama at KS4 would be an advantage but not essential.

The post holder will be a member of the school’s Middle Leadership Team, contributing to whole school self-evaluation and improvement.

The school has been awarded NAS Autism Accreditation and a comprehensive package of training will be provided.

TEACHER AND SUBJECT LEADER FOR KS4 LIFE SKILLS

Full Time, Permanent post from September 2020.

TMS/UPS plus SEN 1 Point

We are seeking a highly driven, creative and nurturing teacher to deliver a creative, practically focused Life Skills curriculum to a small class of students in Years 10 and 11. Governors are seeking someone who will create a calm, consistent, structured learning environment in which students develop self-esteem and self-efficacy and move forward in their learning to maximise their true potential. Supportive contact with parents will be essential.

Students work towards a range of qualifications including Functional Skills English and Maths, and ASDAN Certificates of Personal Effectiveness and Employability, plus additional complementary qualifications, providing a broad and balanced curriculum. Incorporating students’ personal interests and linking learning across subjects will be key.

All teachers at Corley Centre are Subject Leaders. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a challenging and robust KS4 Life Skills curriculum, which prepares students for Post 16 pathways and beyond.

The post holder will also be required to deliver some PSHCE in KS3 and KS4.

Applications are welcome from teachers with at least 2 years’ experience in mainstream or special schools. Applications are particularly welcome from core subject specialists.

Experience of teaching children on the autism spectrum is essential.

We are seeking a highly driven and creative specialist Maths teacher to work alongside our Maths Curriculum Leader to deliver the subject throughout the school and across the full ability range, ensuring that students maximise their potential at GCSE level.

The school has been awarded NAS Autism Accreditation and a comprehensive package of training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be required to promote a collaborative team approach to further develop a dynamic department, where students extend their abilities as a result of high quality staff input. The post may also carry a pastoral role.

Applications are welcome from teachers with experience in primary, secondary, mainstream or special sectors, including NQTs. The ability to deliver at GCSE level is essential.
